Mind Bloom Education, LLC is an online subscription-based company that offers highly structured, high-interest independent reading passages for deaf children. These passages
are designed to eliminate the barriers that make learning to read a challenge for deaf children. Each passage is developed by utilizing strengths-based principles for supporting English literacy development.
Mind Bloom Education's reading passages serve as a bridge for deaf students to feel success while they are developing language skills and learning the more complex nature of written English.

About Our Passages
Our Founder's Story
Mind Bloom Education, LLC was founded by
Heidi Givens, Ed.D. As a 25+ year deaf education veteran, Heidi was frustrated with the lack of educational materials designed specifically for deaf children. She used principles from the Bedrock Literacy Curriculum to develop highly structured reading passages that deaf children can successfully read independently. Heidi sees these resources as the missing bridge for deaf children to ultimately achieve reading fluency.
Throughout her career, Heidi has been an outspoken advocate for high-quality and equitable education for all deaf children. She strongly believes in utilizing a deaf child’s individual strengths when teaching new concepts. Heidi advocates for the use of teaching strategies that are developmentally appropriate for a deaf child’s brain and language growth.
Heidi earned a B.S. in Deaf Studies and M.Ed. in Deaf Education from Boston University. She earned her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. Heidi also holds a National Interpreter Certification.
Heidi has worked in both deaf school and public school settings. She has served as a district reading specialist for the deaf and as a special education director.​ Heidi has presented at local, state, and national conferences and frequently consults with teachers, parents, and organizations about deaf education.
